SURF, FROM NATURE TO MAN-MADE WAVES
Resumen
El surf se ha convertido en todo un fenómeno sociológico en la actualidad, ya que encaja de tal manera en la sociedad contemporánea que se está convirtiendo en un deporte cuyas implicaciones culturales van más allá de la playa. Asociado a un estilo de vida surgido de la antigua polinesia pero con filosofía renacentista tan de moda en la actualidad, ha logrado atraer de una manera tan intensa a tantas personas, que la industria del surf centra sus esfuerzos tecnológicos en la producción de olas artificiales para poder practicar este deporte incluso a miles de kilómetros de la playa. En este ensayo repasaremos la evolución de este deporte y sus implicaciones con la sociedad de nuestros días.
Abstract
Surfing has become a sociological phenomenon today that fits very well in contemporary society, that´s why it is becoming a sport whose cultural implications are getting broader than the beach. Associated with a lifestyle emerged from the ancient Polynesia, its Renaissance philosophy makes it so fashionable and trendy today. It has managed to attract such many people, that the surf industry focuses its technological efforts in the production of artificial waves which will allow its practice even thousands of kilometers from the beach. In this paper we review the evolution of the sport and its implications in our society.
